Nashville singer-songwriter Andrew Mitch knows the weight of a breakup—and he’s turning it into art with his new single, “baggage.” Out February 27, the cinematic country-folk ballad moves between stripped-back intimacy and sweeping orchestral swells, perfectly mirroring the highs and lows of emotional fallout.

Co-written with Jonathan Johnston, Eitan Snyder, and Drew Rizzuto, and produced by Mitch himself, “baggage” is built on raw honesty. Banjo and dobro textures from James Paul Mitchell punctuate the heartfelt guitar work, while Bryan Cook’s mix gives the track a lush, cinematic depth.

“I wrote this song to embody what that weight really feels like in your chest—heavy, messy, impossible to ignore,” Mitch says. “There are ups, there are downs, and it’s a lot to hold. Hopefully it helps someone zone out and have a good cry. I know I did.”

Since his 2023 breakout single “all in my head”, Mitch has been steadily building a devoted fanbase with emotionally charged, personal storytelling. Now, with “baggage”, he leans into cinematic production, blending folk, country, and orchestral elements to create a sound that’s expansive, reflective, and completely his own.

“Baggage” drops February 27 on all streaming platforms.
